$20 Ebay boating compass
15mm pressure pipe
bicycle tube
shock cord
epoxy putty

Bang them all together and you end up with a compass that mounts in the mast plug and cannot fall out.

Nice, I was going to mount my go-pro this way (with PVC in the sail mast), but didn't know what to do about it rotating in place. The image of how you used the shock chord definitely helps. Thanks!

I have done the same for a camera mount. Works well.

Shock cord holds it in and the bike tube stops any movement as the pipe is slightly thinner than the mast holder.
