Hobie PA14 I need advice pls

Hi All I have a question to ask that bothers me for a while now. I am a fly fisherman and I fish saltwater in australia. I would love to buy PA 14 and there is few for sale but the older model (2010-2011) When i look at older models for sale the price is good and I can get one, but the newer models with new seat are already 1500 more which for me is a pain to cillect as wife says there are more important things to do. My main concern is the VANTAGE SEAT vs OLD SEAT and in all this brain storm, Im asking myself shell I get the older one, and here i must say i dont need all new features really, longer railing, plenty things to clip on more things, or wait, save and get the new one with VT seat. Another question for PA flyfisherman is- How do you find yourself with the hatch between your legs. It looks a bit like a hump on the deck, (would you prefer the new model with flat hatch?) does it effect negativley line stripping or no dramas there? And last one for the old model users- Im guessing you have seen and tried the new models, is there anything you would love to have on yours from the new one? ....and one more- can I add bigger roder and both side steering on the older models? Ps My picture of fishing is as follows: -once a week - all i need on board a part from standard featres (drift shute, an ancor) is an esky with lunch and drink, dry bag for important staff, big fly box, sounder and some ice in e front hatch to put fish on if I catch one. Ok Im not sure if I should ask more??? All info would be much apreciated.

Not sure if you've purchased your yak yet...but if you haven't...hold out for the newer version for sure. I've owned both the 2010 & 2014 models of the PA14, and the improvements made are big. The redesigned hull shape in the rod holding areas alongside both sides of the seat are much simpler and much stronger. Some older versions experienced cracking of the hull in these spots. No issues w new models. Also rear scupper holes now reinforced. Old models not so, and I ruined my old PA by puncturing the scupper wall w my steak out pole, so I know it's a big improvement. Hatch on old model sucks for fly fishing unless of course you avoid issue and use stripping basket. Old seat nice for sure, but new gives many more options plus lumbar if you need it. And don't forget all new h bar stuff out there now. Handle on the older PA is small and mostly behind the seating area. Kind of useless. Go newer IMO. Hobie made those changes for a reason. Worth the extra cake for sure
