My new Oasis rudder won't fully lower by pulling either "Down" T-handle. It comes about 3/4ths down. The only way to lower it completely is to push the blade down by hand.

I'm afraid to pull the T-handle too much. I guess I'm pulling with 30-40 lbs. of force.

I assume this would be a relatively simple fix for the dealer, but they're 100 miles away. Suggestions?

Something hanging up inside the kayak. Maybe a line stuck on a foam block. I would first look around inside the hull for obstructions. You can use your cell camera (video) or if you have two... do face time / video, use one inside and the other as a monitor.

There is also a manual for repair with lots of photos that should help:

Mine used to make it down but it was a struggle to get it to fully seat into position. It took a bit of effort (mainly working out where the lines went in a tandem setup) but I released the tension on the retraction line. The rudder now slips into place easily. So my suggestion is release some tension in the retraction line. There is still enough take in the bungee that the line isn't loose.

Thanks. I'll give the cell phone camera idea a try.
