If I install H-Rails on my Revo with stainless washers for backing can I carry and load my kayak by holding these?

I've installed 9" H-Rails on my Hobie Compass for that purpose. I centered the H-Rails directly above the molded in handles on my Compass so I can easily carry it. I'm using the standard washers that came with my H-Rail kit. I haven't had any problems yet. Disclaimer, I've only installed the H-Rails a month ago and take my kayak out about 3 days a week. I considered using a backing plate, but decided the washers should be okay after inspecting the pad eyes that Hobie uses for the front and rear handles. If you look in the hull, the pad eyes are screwed in. My rationale was if the screwed in pad eyes are strong enough to support the weight of the kayak, bolts and washers should be sufficient.
