I have been using a Hobie Evolve (Torqeedo Ultralight) on my Oasis for several years now using the rudder mounting. We have several hundred trouble-free miles on the motor (and even more before that using the drivewell mount). I had noticed a few trips back a vibration and some strange thunking that seemed to be worsening. Turns out the motor pylon had become loose on the mounting shaft to where it could turn several degrees with the mounting shaft stationary.
That mounting shaft threads onto the pylon housing and is then secured by a single small allen screw. The tip of the allen screw goes into a dimple on the threaded portion of the pylon. This dimple had enlarged some permitting play in the assembly. I tightened the allen screw and that mostly resolved the vibration and noise issue.
I removed the rudder pin and it had a slight bend and two worn spots. I swapped in the spare pin and we took it out for another test run. 20 motoring miles later, with 2 of those miles at wide open throttle, all is good. (We do have the 915 wh battery).
So if you use the Evolve on the rudder, not many folks do, these are 2 items to inspect if you develop unusual noise or vibration.
