The spinnaker is a fuller cut and you can sail deeper with it. But due it being cut so much fuller than the Gennaker, you have to snuff it - furling is out. Leaves a baggy mess that will pull out if there is any wind to speak of.
On the other hand, the Gennaker is flatter. More of a reaching sail but can be furled. If you single hand your boat there is an advantage to this. More windage having a furled sail out there, although you can still drop it and haul it aboard if that is an issue.
