Long story...I need two pins, the first is a new clevis, the one that attaches the mast cup to the mast base.
I suspect it is #8020 431, being 1/4 x 1.328 GRIP.
Can anyone confirm?
Parts diagram not clear, and in error, I bought the one that is the 'axle' for the lower pulley on the halyard....similar # but not as long...

Then there is the teeny clevis at the lip of the rear hull, that is used to secure the 3/8' rod that runs from the bracket 9149 0010 to the rear leg of SX 18 wings...anyone know what size that is? It is much narrower, likely a 3/16", is it 8020 061 3/16 x .753 grip?
Moral of the story is 'don't take the boat apart when the fingers are very cold...'

Next, does Hobie still sell the Neoprene kit # 6030 9001, or do I make up something from webbing like the Tigers....what else can I do to protect the inside corners of the wells? (Besides firing my crew.....and we've been married for many years!) What do other H18 sailors do?

Hi John,

I hope I answered your last question sufficently here on the forum that you E-Mailed me about ....

Now for this question .... You can purchase bulk neoprene from Murray's by the foot ... I believe it is 1/8" thick by 4" wide. It's the stuff that they use to cover the booms on windsurfers ..... It comes in different colors (I wanted med blue to match my medium blue tramp at the time). I just make up templetes, cut out the neoprene and glue on my gunwale w/ contact cement .....

What else do I use it for???

I also cover my "Hotstick" .... to protect it from abuse as I throw it around during tacking/jybeing ... UV light and to color match it to the boat trim ...

... and I take the scraps and glue them into my dagger board wells at the top-front to prevent the dagger board from beating on the top of the dagger board trunk and make those cracks and small "wear" holes over time ... it also helps in preventing the dagger boards from sliding down when you want them 1/2 or all the way up.

As for clevis pins I have a set of vernier clibers in my sailbox for accurately measuring and just purchase what I need locally .... though usually it is my local "Hobie Dealer" ..... if I search long enough I might be able to find my H18 assemble manuel/isometric assemble drawing w/ part numbers .... let me know if you get stuck for answers ....

The die cut neoprene kit for a Hobie 18 is # 16708 RAIL KIT,H18 NEOPRENE (Nice custom fit). Shown on page 9.

Thanks for pointing out the issue in the part diagrams. There is an extra pin and ring shown that I need to remove.

The hinge pin is the upper one shown # 8020431 CLEVIS PIN 1/4x1.328 GRIP

The small clevis at the rear struts for the wing is # 8020061 CLEVIS PIN 3/16x.753 GRIP and Ring # 10860001 LOCK RING 3/16"

Thanks for the prompt response....as always, Mr. M.

Quick question, I see the neoprene kit on p. 9, does that include the dagger well corners that I'm specifically looking for?

Sorry... saw that at first then went on a different tangent.

The dagger well neoprene for the Hobie 18 is specific to the bottom of the well. Not the top forward corner, but IT could work there as well. Carpet may be a better choice though.
