Can't get pics up anytime soon. Its an ugly thing, has resin runs on the sides where we played with fixing it the "Hobie way". You really do not see any irregularity on these hulls. I think they are so delaminated that the outer skin is not influenced by the foam or outer skin. The outer skin is thick and fairly strong though, this is a '82 boat.

And believe it or not, I took this boat out ocean sailing after we initially repaired the hulls. It was heavy as all get out but sailed fairly well. Even got it sideways in the break with no issue. But once you got to messing with it you could tell the boat had delaminated everywhere and spots that were seemingly solid before the repair were now soft and the soft spots we fixed were still very solid. We were going to have to chase the soft spots all over the boat and its not worth that. So its been parked for two years and I just recently bought some '84 hulls that I am going to build up with the parts from this boat and sell. That will also provide a little extra money that could be used toward this project.

Anybody looking for a 1984 H18 SE, yellow hulls and cat fever sails, complete with cathauler trailer? $2500 obo!

First I would build a jig to cut the top like you said.

You would have to do the cross bar connections by hand and I would add rear port holes first so you can access the rear ones.
I would also first remove the Dagger board well with a dremel and a cut-off wheel.
If you are thinking about converting this into a F18 or lighter 18 you could change the dagger wells at this time as well. I would dremel along the top of the boat as apposed to a 45degree and also cut out the bottom also.

Good luck and take pics I wanna see it.

Thanks for the idea of cutting the deck from the hull from the top! I have a flat spot on a hull side to repair and had been wondering how to access the interior without destroying the existing hull / deck joint. I'm considering a triangular cross section glass / foam shelf bonded to the inside of the sheer of the hull to reattach the deck.

Thanks again!!!
