Would any of you choose to put a motor mount on your hobie 18? I have a cheata motor bracket thingy that came with the boat, but I haven't really concidered it.

kinda what I was thinking. I've got a motor and the cheata mount. Maybe I'll get them all in order and see if there is maybe someone from the 21 crew that would want it.

Mike, that's why I posted. I think that it would be ok if you watched the weather, but as the wind builds, it looks less and less like a good idea. Where I live, it would work about 80% of the time. Just wouldn't want to go over with a motor sitting behind me.

The loading ramp I use puts me in water that is like a thin piece of pie... and the prevailing wind comes head on. A motor bracket and motor would help me get out.

As far as I am aware, motor mount folks are happy folks.

Thanks... Mike

Not really sure what it's worth. It was mounted to the 18 when I acquired the boat, so I'm assuming that it's the right one for it. They bolted it right through the rear crossbar. A good friend of mine has a 1.5 motor that would work nice with it too.

Maybe some others could chime in on how much is a fair price for it. I really don't see me using it . . . where I trailer sail mine is pretty sweet. No problems getting out or in.
