Hi All,
Bought a used H18 36 or 38 years after selling my last H18...
Summer fun...
Anyway, I believe I have the Hobie 18 SX. I was told it is a 1998 and the sail number seems to reflect this (although I don't know where the serial number is to confirm). It has the SX wings and the comptip mast.
I am replacing the trapeze and shrouds and forestay. The comptip part makes the mast a foot and a half or so longer than the regular mast.
The trapeze and the shrouds and the forestay show different part numbers for the 18 and the 18SX
My question is; are the trapezes and shrouds longer on the 18SX??? What is the difference in length? I bought 2 sets of the standard trapeze with the older Hobie part number but can still return them if too short.

thanks,
Tom

If the mast is roughly 29’-6” overall length, then it is an “SX” version and you will need to purchase longer wire rigging all around. The extra length is in the aluminum extrusion, not the comptip, and it is about 18” longer than a standard H18 mast.

You can do a search for “hobie wire guide” and you should find a file with all relevant wire lengths for all of the sailboat models.

thanks SM.
I see it's 5" longer. And seems unavailable. My local Hobie dealer has a couple sets of the regular H18 trapeze, I could just buy that and put a line loop 5" long through the top of the thimble(s) to the mast tang shackle I suppose...
There is also mention of a trapwire 12" long pigtail...how does that fit in?
Any photos on assembly?
Thanks,
Tom

It looks like Murrays has them listed on their site. I would just go with them. Murrays will make you custom lengths too if you need.
