I will be sailing in western NY. Going to join the Lighthouse Beach Cat Club so i can leave the boat mast up on a beautiful sandy beach on southern shore of Lake Ontario. I have sailed my whole life and was big into windsurfing all throughout the '90's but a few trips to Aruba ruined windsurfing in WNY for me forever.
I'm going to keep my mast as-is for a couple of reasone: One - I would like to someday add a spinnaker. Two - the thought being if i really want to sail competitively i would get a different boat. New boat - I doubt i will be able to find consistent crew so the FX-One would be great - but there aren't enough of them around. The Wild Cat is awesome but hard to find used and too expensive new. So i would probably try to find a nice used Tiger.
Tune-ability of my mast with comp-tip - i have heard mixed reviews on this issue - seems that there are pro's and con's to the comp-tip.
Any idea how many people have been electrocuted ?
Waiting for my mast base so i can rig the boat on trailer and try to olve the swivel/furler issue. Will keep you posted.
Thanks for the replies

Hi,
The previous poster is quite correct .... I to still have a friend of mine still walking this earth when he touched his mast a 14,400v overhead power line because of a comptip mast!!!
But FYI ...
The older "factory" sails where made w/ a luff curve that works w/ a all- aluminum mast ...
The new "factory" mainsails have been redesigned for the luff curve of a comptip mast .... the new "factory" sails I purchased for the 2007NA's .... are great!!!! Well made w/ excellent quality/workmanship .....
Were will you be racing???
