Matt,

That very nice to know ... impressive!!!

I was stumped as how to be able to post the equations from the textbooks ....

We used to joke when we walked out of the engineering classes that "it's all Greek to us" and it was since our textbooks and notes where all filled w/ Greek symbols .....

Does that program have a "Sigma" symbol ... and a "delta"??? I liked the fact that you can properly post the mathmatical expression, " X*2 " for example ... I've always hated the * ... it's just not a correct mathmatical expression ....

Thanks for the lesson ...

uppercase Σ Δ
lowercase σ δ
summation ∑, partial differential ∂
X² or X·2?

⌡ The integral sign is a bit clumsy.

Matt,

That's "way cool" ....

... I thought that an "Intergration" symbol would be tough ...

How do you know which key to use??? ....

(... when Western Union used to teach the teletype operators, they where taught on a keyboard w/o any characters ..... ie: blind typing ... no looking at the keys, it made for faster messaging between operators ....)

You can also get the symbols by using alt keys...
Press and hold ALT and type 234 and release ALT and you get Ω

for a full list go here

Its a great way to make a password really secure.

Alt + 0162 = ¢
Alt + 0176 = ° (degree)
Alt + 0188 = ¼
Alt + 0189 = ½
Alt + 0190 = ¾
(there is no 3/8 or 5/8)
Alt + 0149 = • (bullet)
Alt + 0174 = ®

plus, many other typographical items, such as accents, umlas, etc.

getting back to rudder pins:
years ago I used the nylon pins on my H16, when I forgot to change them to aluminum (no stainless in 1984) for a regatta in the ocean off Wildwood. On a beam reach parallel to the beach, with no particular stress on the system, one broke and took the entire left ride rudder assembly with it to the bottom. turned out it was from UV damage. from that point on I never used nylon again
