I have read that Berman's Performance Guide for the 18 is great. But it's impossible to find. Any recommendations on good books for tuning??

A good place to start would be the H18 pages from the Hobie U tuning guide. Available elsewhere on this site. The guide gives you all the basic settings for different conditions. This should suffice until you can buy or borrow the Berman guide.
