I'm very new to hobie cats and need some help.

I'd love to get some wings for the boat. Is it possible?

What are some good websites to get parts from? I'm in Jacksonville, FL; are there any dealers or parts suppliers nearby?

Also, how do I look up the number that was scratched into the back of the hull? It's CCMH3890M80L. Can anyone tell me about this boat?

Thanks for your help.

Frank S.

Yours is a 1980 model boat, look up the section about 'serial numbers'.

For wings, check out what others do and how the wings work so you are comfortable with their operation. NEVER use the wings to push the Hobie up or down the beach. Wings are designed to work under compression. If you push/pull the boat, the welds will crack, don't ask how I know.

You can post a 'wings wanted' add on the Forum.

I have a set of Magnum wings, (the shorter wings, all welded) with wing tramps. One wing has been welded. My price is US$500. The weight is not significant, but the shape is. Shipping will cost a bit though, unless you 'know' someone. I would have to build a crate or strap them to a skid to protect them during shipping.

I may decide to sell my spare set of SX wings, the longer ones. Again shipping is a challenge, see above. When I bought them (from California), Brian J drilled out all 48 rivets so that it could be packed and shipped flat......My asking is US$1,500 with brand new blue vinyl tramps.

Try locally, you'll save a lot on shipping. email Dan Berger, he may have something, or ask Hank at Nautical Ventures.

Happy 2011
