Removing masthead assembly

Do you need to remove all the rivets from the main sail hook to take the mast head assembly out? Thanks, Bob.

On a comptip mast, yes. The rivets for the halyard hook are what hold the mast cap in place. Not sure about the all-aluminum mast, I've never taken one apart. But there's not a lot of difference between removing one rivet and removing five rivets, so shouldn't be a big deal either way.
