 Post subject: Foam Plug or Seal Plate?

When I took apart my mast I had two foam plugs from the rotator arm down. As I look through the catalog, I notice there is a mast seal plate. What is the difference and is one better than the other?

The plate is the best water barrior. We use both together for best results. The foam keeps the plate aligned.
