Taking the 18 out on the SF bay without the wings (because of a broken strut) I've realized why the wings are so nice - no huge sprays in the face! If I could just get another two feet higher off the hull I'd be able to see where I am going. My crew is seriously considering wearing a mask and ear muffs on the next outing - and he'll be damned if he'll hike out on the trapeze in those conditions.

On the other hand, I've got more impetus to fly a hull just to keep the spray to a minimum, so until the wing is fixed I'll be working on getting a bionic grip for the uncleated main sheet.
