Ok so I have decided to go with the 8:1 low profile lower block,my question is that the harkin carbo is not set up for 7/16 mainsheet line.I just replaced
my 7/16 line recently.Do I need 3/8 line to run through the sheaves easier
and aside from the ease of grip on the 7/16 line is the 3/8 strong enough.Thank you in advance

Yes, 3/8 is good. The thinner line is harder to hold when compared to less purchase, but when going to 8:1... this will not be an issue and will be important for the line to feed out smoothly.

Hi Guys,

You have asked about mainsheet dia. Most of (if not all) of the types of modern lines commonly availible and used are strong enough at dia of +1/4", when combined with a mainsheet stack of 7/1 or 8/1 to work. the real issue is "comfort" of the individual pulling on the sheetline.

The smallest dia I have used was 1/4" Marlow Marlowbraid on a 8/1 system and it worked just fine. A little hard on the bare hands but not too bad. Now what I am currently using (w/barehands) on my 7/1 mainsheet stack for my H-18 is Yale Conception at 5/16" dia (and 1/4" for a jibsheet) This line is a "maffiolli clone" at approximently half the price (5/16 @$1.03/ft?), it is pricey but it is really nice on the hands, lite wieght and does not absorb water. I am very pleased with it. The best testiment I can give is that I will be replacing my lines on my _-19mx this year and I will be using the Yale Conception again. It does run a little big for its size so I am thinking of reducing the dia to 1/4" for the 8/1 stack (on the mx) and 3/16" for the jib. Please note that this is a NON-stretch line but it will seem to stretch at first ... it is the braid tightning under load. It will eventually come to an equilibrium braid tightness depending on how much load you put on it.

Hope these thoughts help
