Packing a H 18 for a camping trip

I'm going to be bringing my H18 to the www.Texas200.com raid style event. I currently only have the two pop out factory hatches which are about 6' in diameter. Any good ideas on how to pack my backpacking style camping gear? Any good locations to add a second set of ports?

I wouldn't try and add deck hatches for that purpose.

Adding ports big enough to do what you are proposing is VERY difficult because of the curvature of the deck. Also, it weakens the deck.

In my opion the best thing to do would be pack your stuff in waterproof/reisitant bags and lash them to the tramp at the base of the mast.

try the vacuum bags available at most retail stores. There caled space bags or something like that they work well and are verry flat . when you don't have a vacuum you just close then and roll them so the air forces out the vacuum connection. then store them in a large duffle bag on the tramp. The duffle protects the openings on the bags and keeps you from accidently ripping them.

Thanks. I've got lots of dry bags from my kayaking trips, so I'll work on a way to lash them in an organized fashion to the tramp up by the mast.

You can put the dry bags in the hull. Just pack the bags after you put them in the hull. then you dont have to try to fit a 15in bag in a 6 in hole.

Packing the bags so they're not full is also a good way to squeeze them in too. Any tips to keep the bags from sliding around out of reach. I'm thinking some parachute cord here, but where to tie it?
