Got a question on righting system rings

I currently have the hawiian system on my boat(was there when I bought it).
I also have a line tied to dolphin striker with a carbon fiber wakeboard handle attached to the end and I keep a bucket in my port pouch just in case
i'm single handing and screw up.Two weeks ago I went out with my girl in what was supposed to be 15 -20 mph winds,turned out to be 20 with 35 mph gusts.Needless to say our combined weight is about 310 and we got wet-alot.
Whoever put the hawiian system on my boat tied knots all down the lines,I'm
assuming to tighten up the line so it wouldnt drag in the water.Problem with that was I didnt have enough line to pull over the hull and right the boat.I am going to take this off my boat because frankly it didnt work.I have a new righting line that is webbed climbing line with shockcord inside but the I was told to run it through rings on the front crossbar.I am assuming that they are talking about tying some kind of ring to the dolphin striker or crossbar for this line to go through.I have no idea,any help would be appreciated.I still like my board handle but it can be a pain to get it out of the tramp pouch and tie it to the dolphin srkr while the wind is blopwing you sideways at about 18 knots.

I think the knots are there for something to hold on to when you're trapping out. You can use the Hawaiian system as a "sissy line" to keep you from going around the bow when you slow down too quickly.

AAAHHH, The "Ultimate Righting Line" from skiutah. Not totally convinced that this is the 'ultimate'.

I am convinced however, that the system coming out of the factory is the best righting system... a piece of line tied to the dolphin striker post. No moving parts, light, fast, maximum righting moment when thrown over the upper hull, and cheap to replace.

Seriously, until I read Richs post on replacing them,I never have in all the years I had my 16. Bruce at Inland sailing never told me this was a crucial item to replace with your standing rigging,guess I know now. See at woodward.

Do you mean you keep the bucket in a puch inside your hull, accessable from the port hole? How do you plan to get it out if the hull is half underwater?

In any case, I agree, I think the best righting system is simply a nice fat line tied to the dolphin striker and stowed either in a tramp pouch or tied under the tramp. It's not the quickest system, but it's simple and seems to work the best.

I meant I keep the righting bucket in the tramp pouch if it is big wind.There is no way i'm trying to get into the hull ports while on my side.Can you imagine opening that and having a puff fill your hull with water,NO thanks.
All I know is that on my 16 the hawiian setup was awsome but on the 18 it has it's draw-backs.It was so windy when I went out that I was real worried about turtling the boat and I was the only boat on the lake.Unlike the 16 , it is tough to get the line over the top of the hull when there is too much tension on it.

The rings you refer to tie off to the bungee hole for the daggers. The system knots at the rudder pin, goes up the hull, thru the metal ring, across the front, thru the ring on the other side and back to the rudder pin. Makes a good chicken line for your crew as well.
