Picked up a new compass this weekend, on flipping it over for storage found bolts and shape that don’t seem quite right.

I’d guess there is a support block just forward of the mirage drive well, but it is clearly deforming the hull shape.
One bolt is proud of the hull, and both have a lighter color (which I could be wrong but looks like stress or thin spots).

Is this normal / expected? Haven’t found any discussions to explain.

This forum has been a huge help to my kayak research/purchase experience, thank you!

This is not unusual. These are brass inserts for reinforcing the front of the well and the forward one for the accessory mount. Caps are cosmetic covers for the blind threaded inserts... not a hole through. The brass is held to the mold by a screw during molding. Then released. The boats shrink as they cool and often will show this sort of thing.
