So I'm looking to replace the mast step on my '77 (rotation stops worn off).

I assume I drill the rivets and unscrew the dophin striker from the bottom? How much does the boat have to be taken apart to remove the dolphin striker? Do the corner castings have to come apart?

Thanks for any help!

Check the 16 forum FAQ... there is a link to an article on this.

I just did my mast base and step this weekend, very easy to do. I only loosened one side of the dolphin striker, till the rod was floppy and then gave the base of
the post a good whack after drilling out the old rivets. Once the base was up enough to spin the base, I hit it with some liquid wrench to ease the fitting, came off pretty easy.

Good luck!
