Camera Dunking

Sailed into a shallow area with very clear water in the intercoastal and dunked the camera several times just to see the effect. Kind of cool. First dunking doesn't occur till about thirty seconds into it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0ItjGmp98M. For those interested, I used a Canon D10, waterproof to 33 feet. So far, awesome camera.

I actually bought that camera for just the kind of situation you're talking about: boat flying across the water, spray flying everywhere, right on the edge of calamity. The kind of sailing you most want to re-live and share with others. Up to now I could never take the camera out on those days without it getting trashed. I'm pretty sure you'll have your pitchpole video pretty soon!

good lord thats shallow....are your rudders even locked down? Id be scared i'd run aground!

Get a camera clamp, any good pro camera shop will have some. It's a modified clamp for hanging lights on film sets, very durable and strong.

my side rail.

It brings up a few issues, like pay attention to the wind rather than the camera, especially when it's gusty!!

Is the whole like like that?? In Saskatchewan we call them sleughs (sp?). We have a lake here in Saskatchewan that you need to go out about 100 to 299 ft. before you get enough water to start to sail, big lake just a pain to get out and in.

It's the intercoastal on the Florida east coast. The area where I sail often is about ten by seven miles and it's only shallow like that close to shore. These shallow areas are very lively with large Red fish and the shores are pristine and beautiful. My brother-in-law, the guy in the video, weighs like 275lbs or something so I figured if boat wasn't going to perform too well anyway, I'd just take him to see some wildlife!
