With that much gear missing/broken/trashed I would buy another boat and have a bounty of used parts. Like mdgann said there are some h16s available in Salt Lake on ksl dot com , but I have also seen some good deals pop up in Coeurdalene. Just wait and see what the local craigslist brings up.

In your seach if you see a blue hobie 16 for sale in Idaho with Utah Tags let me know, One was just stolen outside of Salt Lake.

So far I have had the mast welded by the local aluminum expert and have glued the comp tip back in. A forum member in Anaheim, Ca. is sending me all of the rudder components gratis.
That leaves a bit of fiberglass repair to the dents and the deck/hull joints and we'll be back in business.

Fall is a great time to sail in Idaho...

Glad to hear you got it all back together! Make sure you buy a box of ring dings and cotter pins for the future too. I also wire tied my nylock nuts on the entire boat. Pretty redundant but there is no way they will back off now. I also tape all the ringdings so nothing can grab ahold of them. They aren't that strong if something like your harness snags them during a capsize.

It surprises me how many people lose their rudders like this. It seems so obvious yet happens all the time. I never had to learn the hard way because one of the few useful things a previous owner told me was about losing rudders.

I've got a complete rudder system minus rudders that we can work a deal on if you're interested. My ever so humble opinion is to "scrap it Clyde" sell what you can, stock your tackle box with all the little stuff and look for another ride next spring.

As for getting the wife on board again....try booze!

I have the rudders and tiller arms replaced and the dents in the hull are pretty minimal.

Made a double ended tiller arm with gray 3/4 inch schedule 40 electrical conduit and a flex connector. Capped the ends with PVC pipe caps to seal it up. Saw this someplace and I believe it will work great unless you like doing the tiller arm flip when tacking. I'll look for the link in case someone else is interested. (viewtopic.php?t=9247)

BTW one of the rudder new rudder pins that I inherited had to be drilled for the bottom cotter pin. Looks like people have been rolling their own and not pinning both ends.
