hey yall i was just got a hobie 16 for FREE, and could not be more excited about it. but it has a a few issues, but that is to be expected since it has been sitting for many years. the up side is that the sails are in great condition!! but my main question is that the tops of the hulls have some soft spots. having never owned a hobie, i do not know if this is normal or if my hulls are shot and i need new ones.

thanks

Davis

Depending on how large of area the soft spots cover, they can be easily repaired. Also, depending on where they are at, they can also result in a weakend hull structure. I just got my first Hobie this past September and had the same problem. There is alot of information on this on these boards, just look for soft spots or delamination of hulls. I believe that Matt also posted something about it in the FAQ. I would explain how to fix it, but I'm sure somebody else could do a much better job.
