Does anyone know where I can buy a product that you slide over your battens than you use a hair dryer to shrink it tight. This is to reduce wear between the batten and the batten pocket.
This is different than the batten pocket anti-chafe tape which is appied directly over your sail at the battens to protect your sail from wear due to rubbing against the shrouds. But I would like some feed back on that product too.
Thanks :D

Bill 404 - The Batten Pocket Anti-chafe Tape is on page 15 of the Hobie Parts and Accessories Catalog Part # 1494 $1.90/foot.
The other product....it sounds like you're looking for Heat Shrink Tubing. We used to use it for minor electrical repair work on Anesthesia equipment in the O.R. You might check your local hardware store or order it online.
Good luck!
Richard

I remember it being advertised in the HOTLINE, but that was a while back - at least 15-20 years ago.

McMaster-Carr has heat shrink tubing that would work, but it's really expensive.

I go to the local battery shop (where they also build custom battery cables) for my heat shrink. They've got big reels of all different sizes of heat shrink.

Yea I'm old, but it worked well, and when shrunk had a shinny surface, not sure if electrical wrap is the same.
