Okay so in the Hobie parts and accessories catalogue the tramp lacing kit is shock cord, and in the description it says many sailors prefer shock cord over regular rope yet at my beach nobody uses shock cord. So my question is, what are the advantages of using shock cord to rope your tramp?

I've done it with both, use good 1/4 line rather than shock cord, stiffer, less bounce, probably costs the same.

Read here once that shock cord reduces boat stiffness. I can't verify that and it does seem to contradict why racers would choose to use it - why would they deliberately loosen their rigs?
