Life Jacket

In you opinion what is a good life jacket to wear while out on the trap?

The Hobie 'Short-Profile' vest (made by Stohlquist) fits awesome while trapping, its the only PFD I have worn for the past several years now. I highly recommend it.

Generally speaking, most paddle sports vests work well for trapping out. They are shorter in the torso with wide arm openings. Stay away from impact type vests made for water skiing/wake boarding. They are longer and interfere with your trapeze hook. I use a Stohlquist. Whatever you get make sure it is Coast Guard certified.

I am very glad to hear this! I just went and checked, and this is what my lovely wife bought me for Christmas. I can't wait to try trapping out this summer. I also got all the trapeze hardware I had been missing, from the children.
