My traveler car is difficult to move. I've got to push it reasonably hard to move it anywhere on the track..sounds dry and sqeaky. I'm about to scrub the track with a toothbrush, then add silicone to lube.

So, how easily should the car move?? Should it move freely on it's own? When wind swings the boom..this car should move by itself right???

Free and Smooth. Use Mclube or similiar stuff, a dry lubricant that won't be a magnet for dirt and grit. Your track just needs some love and Mclube is it.

There should be little or no effort to move the traveler. Your bearing may be shot, these things to wear out every once and a while. If your boat is older and is original then I would look at upgrading to a new one, but only if the McLube does not do the trick!

Thanks,
