The wire guide shows for the Hobie 16 trap wire lengths of 16'-9 1/8" for older boats, 16'-7 1/4" for newer boats.
The problem is that if they are in fact too long and they are double wires (one thimble up top to connect to the mast tang with two wires coming down), then it's not going to be easy to shorten them because you can't adjust the top end and if you shorten from the bottom end, the stop for the handle is going to be in the wrong spot. I guess you could carefully cut off the stop for the handle, but you take a big risk damaging the wire in doing so.
You may be better off figuring out what boat these wires are for and selling them and just buying the correct Hobie 16 wires.
