Hi all,

Does anyone have a link to purchase a storage box I can keep on site at the club that I can store my boom and sails in?

Thank you,
Ed

I just use the hobie deluxe sail bag. http://www.murrays.com/07-3121.html I strap it to the trailer between the hulls with bungee chords.

Most people custom make their gear boxes. I've heard gear boxes commercially sold are just way overpriced. Plus, if you're just wanting to store the sails the deluxe sail bag is fine. Although, it does degrade over time due to UV. It is so big it can fit two sets of sails too. I have both my practice and race sets in one bag.

I use the bags because a gear box/sail tube isn't really removable from the trailer easily. There is no beach at my yacht club, so dipping the box/tube in the water then placing sails inside causes mold to grow on the sails. So, if you trailer/boat ramp launch your boat, be weary of that.

Thank you so much for your response. I should have been more clear in my question. We keep the Hobie on the beach at that Yacht club, so I'd be looking for a water proof box we can keep nearby the boat. My co-owner keeps the boom and sail in his garage. I don't always have my truck in town when I go for a sail. I really don't want to put a roof rack on my car.

thanks again for your input.

Oh okay, well yeah... as far as I've seen most people custom make their boxes.

If you live in an area with a decent sailing scene, you can browse local boat listings for old beat-up boats. Usually, the owners will be willing to sell you the box that's on the boat's trailer separately from the boat itself. That's what I would probably do before going and making one. But as I said, most people I know custom made their gear/storage boxes as commercially ones are way overpriced.
