I have a vinyl tramp and i think that they are easer to wash. Mine is the original on my 79 boat and it looks great.

I have had 2 different vinyl tramps, one from ’78 and one from ’83. They do seem to hold up well but, when I removed them for winter storage they would start to crack. The ’83 also had been patched in two spots with hiking strap material by the previous owner. Each rip was about 6 inches long and were probably due to cracking. I purchased a new mesh tramp 2 years ago and I am happier with it. I find that grit, whether sand or mud, on the solid tramp will eat up your knees just as much as the mesh will. I was also annoyed by the puddles of water that would form on the vinyl. This was even worst on the cold days. So my choice is vinyl. It also seems to be easier to remove and install for traveling and storage.

I also use a sprayer at the coin carwash to clean the tramps. They both seemed to clean up about the same.
-hope this helps-

Well I've just ordered a mesh tramp from Murrays to replace my old Vinyil tramp (which has a small rip) so I will be able to give a verdict in a couple of weeks time. The tramp's in transit as we speak. I hope mesh is better than vinyl now that I've bought one!
