My girlfriend was getting some really good air this weekend. She's been working hard at getting in some good long solo flights, I think her cat has earned it's wings. 5'2" and 112 lbs, she bought the boat not knowing me or how to sail, just wanted to learn.

great video! She is doing fantastic on her flying. There was only once it looked like it might go over.

I wish the winds on my lake were steady enough to fly that smoothly. It always seems too switchy to stay up that long where I sail.

She's a keeper. Put a ring on it.

Oh, that got me a laugh. No, we're in our mid 50's and no going down that road but she is a sweet heart.

Our lake is bad too, its man made and is real switchy as you say, sometimes you'll get 90deg shifts but try and recognize the pattern. When you get the lift and then the shift, then you can count it in you head and be ready to turn the boat or easy out the sail but also be ready to turn back or pull in. We're the only two that zig zag across the water that way and also fly the longest because of it. I don't mean we don't have great or experienced sailors but most others look for speed or sailing in a pack. I've taught her to sail the jib, as I call it. After finding out where she'd get the best pull from her jib set it and keep adjusting the boat to keep the tell tails on both side flying backwards then adjust the main sail as needed. It looks smooth in the video but both hands are constantly moving in and out.
