Hello all! Its been a few decades since I have sailed a Hobie, but I picked up a boat built in the late 80's that was fairly well cared for. Some of the items like the trailer were great (with new tires and bearings) and the boat just needs some love before she will be ready to hit the lake.

My question is more around items like the mast and tiller arm. The mast is definitely scratched up, but am I better off just sealing it as is, or has anyone repainted it? Same for the tiller arm. I am sure this was black originally, but with sun and fading is now silver.

My other question is should I take the rudder assembly off to re-seal it?

Anything else I should be checking while restoring the hull, and replacing all the ropes?
