Does breaking the boat down and re-assembling it aid in wearing down the pylons.I have a new 16 that I want to keep stiff. The choice is store it assembled(costs money) or take it apart and store in garage (free)

I can't imagine it was cause any wear that you would, or could notice. If you did it every weekend probably be an issue. But once a year would should be fine. Look and see how much of the anodization is being scraped away. That would be a good tell as to how much damage is being done.

I've done this for years with my 83 H16. It never seems to have done any type of damage what so ever. I also have a friend that lives in Ohio that takes his apart every winter and stores it in his basement and he has never had a problem either. Like the last guy said.....wouldn't do it every weekend! Once a year has never seemed to be a problem. Good luck and happy sailing!
