Well we rigged the H16 complete with sails Saturday. She was in the driveway lashed to the trailer. I was doing those "little exras" all day so we rigged her as the sun was setting. A little cofusion on what cleats the different lines attach and noticed the gooseneck only goes down in the lower track about 2/3's it's length but the H16 rigging video due in tomorrow will hopefully clear that all up. She sure is beautiful!!! We were confident that Sunday would be the maiden voyage.
Sunday, we woke up to rain and no wind. We waited around untill 2:00PM, no change, infact the rain became even more steady. We decided that we'd scratch sailing and take the powerboat out. We towed the Galaxy to my cousins and sat down to steamed crabs and beer. At 5:00PM the rain stopped and a NICE breeze kicked up. Saw some large sailboats moving along really nice...RATS!!! We launched the Galaxy. We cruised around infront of his house adjusting the carburator and it seemed to be going real nice. She then started slowing all on her own. Engine temp went to cold! Uh Oh!
Checked oil and it was white! VERY BAD!! We shut it down and drifted in. Luckily we were by the ramp when all this happened. Pulled boat up, grabbed another beer and went out on pier to watch the sailboats.
I have to work 12 hour shifts this weekend, but starting Labor Day weekend I have an entire week off. We will have the Cat in tow no matter what the weather is like!!!! We're going to try to find a campground where we can beach the cat next to our tent for the weekend following Labor Day. I'm also going to rig up a mast stepping device so I can do it solo, with all the info I've gained here it should be no problem.
