Yeah I've seen that photo before. While I'm sure it is quite functional it might be a little overkill for my purposes. I just wanted to locate a couple stays underneath the side rails and was looking for someone who had already done this. I'm looking for placement to keep dogbones from whacking me in the teeth all the time I'm not actually using them. Maybe someone with the newer tramp can measure the hole location.
The holes are on either side of the shroud, in the reinforcing strip at the edge of the tramp. They're about 6 inches apart.
However, most people don't use the aft one for the skipper as it severely restricts the person on that wire from getting towards the back of the boat. You want that one loose.
This is what I did on my new boat (an '07 that came without grommets in the tramp):

The skipper's trap has a "parking place" on the sidebar, where there's no carpet. It will stay there until you grab it to hook up.
