Hey all

So i'm going on a sailing trip during thanksgiving break, and am wonder what would be the better place to go for the week? I'm in Colorado, and want some real wind and waves, and both the Caribbean and Pacific are nearly equidistant from me. I've never done ocean sailing before, but my friend who is also joining me has, but not on a catamaran. (so this would be a first experience through the waves). We've done lots of wind, up to Balfor 7, but between 4and 6 would be nice.

We also have wetsuits.. (november is cold)

atm, it's either San Fransisco, Sandiego, or Corpus Christi (texas)

thanks for opinions!

Should you head to Corpus area and want to hit the Gulf of Mexico there are a couple of spots. Mustang Island and North Padre Island. Of course it's surf launching of which conditions can vary. In November one could have great weather or gloomy conditions. Probably would be sailing alone as well especially on NPI.

Just below Galveston is Surfside Beach of which local cat sailors frequently gather since H-cane Ike shut down the old spot at Texas City dike.

I'm sure the California boys can brief you re San Diego etc.

Wherever you decide to go I'd recommend you check the local regulations regarding boats in the surfline. Figure out which cities you'd like to go to and then try to find the local city's website where you should be able to find the lifeguard service's phone number. They should know if Hobies are allowed in the surf .
