Radios onboard.

I have not found a MP3/ipod external speaker system that you would be able to hear from the boom of your boat in 10-15 MPH winds. That is why I am looking for the 12V system. The size of motorcycle batteries are very small and would be capable of providing car or boat sound system quality.

If this can be done with a small 3AAA battery system, I am all ears and think it would be the best. Even good boom boxes have 4-6 C or D batteries to power them.

I am still interested in everyones selections and applications.

True, not car quality, true a 12v motorcycle battery is relatively small, but for less than $20.00 it works fairly well and it goes everywhere.

Easy peasy - I use a shower radio in the lace of the tramp. If you have to have your MP3 player, put it in one of those watertight boxes with a battery powered FM transmitter.
