Is this Tequila Sunrise?

Im looking into an H16 I found locally, havent checked it out in person yet. I was given this picture, the only one with the sails up. The jib appears to be Tequila Sunrise, but is the main as well? It looks like it is severely faded, but matches the scheme slightly, especially with the yellow hulls. Also, was this scheme available only as a 1979 model? The serial # indicated this as a 1983 boat

Looks like a fadded Teq Sunrise to me and i think they made those for a few years. I have a 80,18 and it is a sunrise.

Check the charts, they were made several years. Judging by the sail number, I'd guess that set to be from '78.
It's not uncommon for sail sets and boats (years) to get mixed up through multiple sales over their life.

I've got a 79 Tequila sunrise with yellow hulls. Your mast has the telling black anodized finish of a later boat, Also my OEM sail number is 43458 Looks like someone put a set of faded "78" sails on a 83 hull. Be VERY careful buying a boat with mis matched parts.

That's BS and you know it Matt. How many boats have you owned that were all original? Both my H16's and the H14 came and left with different parts, and it was all for the better.

Actually, all the boats I've ever owned had all their original major parts. Including the 17, Tiger and 2 14s I bought used. They all left with some different minor parts (including a couple of new crossbars on the 17), but those were either upgrades or replacements that I made along the way.

The only mismatched parts most people could identify would be different hull numbers or sails that are obviously older than the boat. Only geeks like me can date things like rudder castings and crossbars, and even then it's not exact.
