Woah, sorry I asked. I just didn't want to go to some dealer, have them sell me some line for $2 a foot and then come home to realize other places sell the same stuff for 50 cents a foot.
Don't be sorry you asked!!!!
Matt was not being a turd!!! The truth is, everybody will spend a different amount for their sheets depending on needs, wants and budget.
I seriously doubt that a Hobie dealer would do a 250% markup on any product. If you find a product you like, look it up on the web and you will find what is a fair price.
When I first got my 73 h16 four years ago, the entire main sheet setup needed to be replaced. What to buy? I took about three solid days(needed it in a hurry) researching on the web. I read the info I could find here and on Catsailer.com forums. I picked a price point and researched some more. I knew the boat I had would not last that long, but also knew I was going to want to keep what ever I bought for several years. Not sure if I just got lucky with my choice or not but I can I did get what I feel to be some really nice line and blocks. Will I buy the same line next time, I can't say, but I will have do to my own bit of research all over again, because this rig should out last even what is currently on the market today. The only UV rays that the sheet sees is when it is actually on the boat while I am sailing it, the rest of the time, it is in my rigging bag either in the RV or the house.
I guess what I am tryiing to say is, this is a very personal choice and as Matt said, there is no perfect right answer for everybody. Yes, it is confusing and there are a ton of choices in any price range but in the end, only you can decide what is right for you.
FYI, as most everybody on these forums have read over the last four years, I chose this,
http://tinyurl.com/yhvkerk awesome stuff IMO.
Now, for my Jib sheet, I picked a very cheap black line from Lowes. It has spent every day of the last 4 years in our crazy line destroying sun here in NM and is still in great shape.
