Doing a trip that was 13-20 miles sounds very do-able as far as I am concerned. I spent 63 days underwater in a submarine once (and that was just one of my many underwater stays) so compared to that laying on a tramp while the wind blows me around for five hours is paradise. Even with out the comparison its paradise.
I didn't want this idea for a trip to sound like an "I told you so" pissing contest with my brother in law. Like I said it seemed like a good place to go. I may sail off of Dillon Beach this season at least once but in the mean time I may stick to the lake, bay and Delta.
Also I should say that while my boat is an 81', everything on it has been replaced or 98% repaired. All standing rigging is new and most of the hardware including jib and main blocks is all new. Four months of restoration have paid off well. This picture is what it looked like on its maiden after the restore. Still added some stuff recently.

It is a great lake to sail if you havn't already and right now it is full to the brim. The wind is hit and miss like at all lakes though. My crew and I weigh a total of 450 lbs and we both trapped at the same time (then shortly after capsized) early in June. A few days ago the winds maxed at about 6 mph. It seems like it was about 13-15 years ago there was a Hobie race out there. My boat isn't legal but it would be nice to see that again.
