Waldorf,

The Steven Jung description is excellent. I have a couple of comments. I always tell my crew (if I have one) not to release the jib until the main battens have snapped over on the new tack. I do release my main sheet before I go into the tack but not as much as described. If you don't release it, the mast will not rotate as easily. And if all fails, leave the jib cleated, pull the boom back and reverse the rudders. You will be sailing backwards. Then slack off the main and finish the tack.
