Nope... but it tacks like one...

(look closer.. I am using jib sheet to tension rig..)

Wind was howling... After the Frayed Knot Regatta we were just goofing off in a little protected 'bay' at Clinton Lake....

Didn't want to mess with Jib... and I am 6'5" 225... if that was a 14 you wouldn't be able to see the leeward hull

The shroud anchors have been moved to the rails.

That's what I thought at first, too - but if you look closely, you can see them on the hulls.

It is a 16.. Nothing crazy done.. No moved shrouds or anything like that.. look at the second pic..


The jib was just left off for that little play session.. I these photos I was just playing in a small area and didn't really want or need anything more to do.. besides.. you can see I didn't need the power.. it had been on that morning while I was watching Slim and J Sohn run away from me..

Besides.. Learn to tack a 16 without the jib.. Once you figure that out.. You will have to try on purpose to blow a tack with the jib on.. using the jib sheet to tension the rig works decent for playing around..

The hulls are covered in contact paper as a quick fix to hide soft spot and hull damage repairs... This winter I may have a buddy print me some quality vinyl in woodgrain.. I really like the way it looks..

Blocks are seaway 5:1 converted to low profiles 6:1..

The rest of the boat is just old junk thrown together.. bought a 16 minus hulls from CL.. then scored some hulls and a trailer.. and have been beating the thing to death ever since.. These things are FUN.. and I have hardly nothing invested in that boat... Thanks again John E...


This winter I think I need to get something a little nicer to keep up racing.. but dang... So much fun having a boat I don't have to worry about..


Oh.. and again.. Those pictures.. My 10 yr old daughter shot them from shore with a Nikon d70.. I would come flying up to shore and then tack when the leeward rudder kicked up... Brought me 20-30ft from them.. and she was shooting with a long lens...

This is my current 16, I have owned many but seldom sail it.
Look at those snow white hulls....
Location: Paynetown State Recreation Area, Bloomington, IN. Last fall I cleared out all the rip rocks that littered my favorite launch site left behind from powerboaters trying to weigh down their anchors. 76 wheelbarrow loads!
The first wheelbarrow was fully loaded and the following loads were half full...
