I have a H16 mast in two pieces. The upper piece has a nice comp tip and I am curious if it can be removed and used on another mast. Anone have any experience with this?

I do not see any reason why not if it is undamaged and you carefully remove it. That would give you a larger number of possible replacement masts to choose from. Many original Hobies were reconfigured with comptips, and damaged comptips are replaced all the time.
