Hello to all: I'm bought a H16 from a guy who painted over the gel-coat with latex, and in some areas oil based paint he got from Home Depot! So you can guess whats happening to the finish at this point..... large strips of the stuff are just falling off just from rinsing the boat with the hose. I bought a product from West called Aircraft(yes, paid through nose) that is designed to strip paint off of fiberglass. The instructions call for applying the stuff, waiting awhile, then scraping paint/goo off with plastic scraper. MY QUESTION IS, what would be wrong with, instead of a plastic scraper, using a pressure washer (conservatively) to remove goo? I can imagine this being more thorough (especially in textured areas), much faster, and a whole lot less work. What have I missed (except the environmentally unsound aspect. I have large tarp that will catch most of the stuff)? Any input would be appreciated.
Also, the post that claimed appliance epoxy spray paint was an amazing finish is looking very attractive to me right now from a cost/ease of application perspective. Any comments about that idea? Thanks
