But some of this depends on how much weight is on board. The more weight, the more wind you can take. Of course, four bodies on a 16 is about the max - and you can only take four adults IF they LISTEN to you when you say "MOVE"

You also run the risk of just straining the boat beyond bounds. From my experience 720 to 800 lbs of beef in 30-40 mph winds can crack corner castings, split stays, cracked decks and numerous bruises - nothing that beer can't cure of course
I have had as many 8 on my 16.
Well OK it was six little kids, like second grade, with one other adult - but you don't take kids out when it's blowing too hard
