I ordered a new mesh trap - my old one is laced with black (looks nice) bungee and it doesn't hold up. And gives to much - I don't like it. I want to replace it with low stretch rope. Problem is- I'd like it to be black. Or some other color that would look good. (I have the teal blue trap.) white would be okay, but my lake is quite natural and has lots of mud and muck and will look DIRTY and nasty quickly. I'd like a black that is solid - not white inside. Is there such a thing? And where might I get it?

I actually need to lace two 16's. I have a older boat that I'm moving the better newer teal tramp to - (has old orange with white DIRTY rope) and I'm putting the new teal trap on the newer (better boat) that has black bungee on it now. I've read a total of around 50' is needed? cut into 3 pieces? 15 + 15 for back and 20 down center?

1/4 inch diameter? What material is best? And where to get it in (preferably black) I hate it when the sheeth wares off and the white inside the rope shows through... so would prefer solid black if there is such a thing.

I use 3/8 black bungee and a thin (3/16) black line too.First install the bungee and keep it tight but not too tight, then lace throught the line to keep the tramp from having too much bounce...this gives me a tight frame and looks great too.

Dyneema, or spectra. 1/8" would be plenty strong.

Bill - never thought of using both. That might be the perfect thing... The bungee I have now is to stretchy - and eventually wore in one spot and I now see a hundred rubber bands inside that are slowly breaking one by one. But like you say with the addition of a small stiff line that would help eliminate some of the bungee stretch. I might try both... thanks for the idea.
