Line-X vs. Carpet

Another thread mentioned Line-X, or Rinoliner being sprayed on to protect the keel area, and that got me thinking:

Does anyone have experience with Line-X type material on the tramp rails so the aluminum isn't so slippery? It seems like it would work. Maybe not as much traction as carpet, but way more durable.

Any thoughts?

It's too abrasive. Shreds skin and clothing. Not good for sidebars.

True, if you don't tell them to finish it smooth. Line-X adds a sand like product to make it rough, they don't have to. Now, I do not know how it would be with bare feet but I have a spare set of rails I am going to test it on in the spring.

Carpet and don't use that rubber S!@#$ they try to sell you. The trap wires eat it alive and it looks like hell real quick if u use your boat alot.

I loved the Hydroturf. Grommets in the tramp takes care of the wear from the return bungee.

I like the rubber,(carpet soaks up water). Use a grommet for the crew and keep the shock cord a little loose and it is not as hard on the rubber.I also like to use a thinner shock cord,1/4" is an over kill, 3/16 is all that is needed.
