Limit wind speed of HC 16

Hello, everybody!
This weekend my friend and I sailed on HC 16. The wind speed was 10-14 m/sec. In 20 minutes we had to return back to the shore. Because of this, I have got a question: What is the limit wind speed when sailing HC 16 becomes dangerous? (There are no big waves, it is a lagoon.)
I don't undestand, wheather I lack skills and experiense of sailing while the wind is over 10 m/sec or it is really much for HC 16.

That converts to (22-30mph.) It's getting pretty close to the most wind I like; I've sailed in 25 gusting to 40 (11-17m/s) and I've heard of people sailing in as much as gusting to 50mph (22m/s) but really if the wind is over 10-15m/s it's just not fun anymore. I'd say 8-10m/s is when I'm happiest.

I agree pretty much with "Famous Jaime"

But some of this depends on how much weight is on board. The more weight, the more wind you can take. Of course, four bodies on a 16 is about the max - and you can only take four adults IF they LISTEN to you when you say "MOVE" You also run the risk of just straining the boat beyond bounds. From my experience 720 to 800 lbs of beef in 30-40 mph winds can crack corner castings, split stays, cracked decks and numerous bruises - nothing that beer can't cure of course

I have had as many 8 on my 16.

Well OK it was six little kids, like second grade, with one other adult - but you don't take kids out when it's blowing too hard
